Author: 7th Sign

I'm an author who has written four poetry books, Blurred Vision, Hindsight 20/20, Honesty Box and most recently, Stingrays. I released my first novel, Fortune Cookie, in 2015 and I'm finalizing the follow up, called No Cream In The Middle, for a July 2017 release. I enjoy helping other writers reach their goals, which inspired me to launch my own publishing company, 7th Sign Publishing.

Lizzo And Her Coconut Oil

Before this week, I didn’t know who Melissa Jefferson was. However, I quickly sat up and took notice when I discovered her new EP, Coconut Oil, on Tidal. The 29 year old singer has a robust sound that’s well beyond her years. Her style is brazen and bold, much like her activism stance when she’s […]

Green Day Starts Colorful ‘Revolution’

Green Day has one of the most celebrated catalogs in Rock/Pop/Punk music history. The group’s storied career (filled with hits like “Basket Case” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”) has spawned over 25 years. Bill Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt have resurfaced after a four year silence, with Revolution Radio. I’m not ashamed to […]

Jaysyd Gives Us Her

Jaysyd has been in the music industry for over 15 years. He is a Dallas, TX based singer and songwriter. His sound is mellow, with a flavor reminiscent of Trey Songz and Bryson Tiller. Chance of Rain (hosted by his UK DJ Mr Shox), Jaysd’s first mixtape, was released in 2014. His music career has […]

Mary J Blige: In The Thick Of It

No one sings pain like the Queen of Hip Hop Soul. Mary J Blige’s career took off nearly 25 years ago with classics like “Real Love,” “Love No Limit” and her rousing rendition of “I’m Goin’ Down”. Since then, she has evolved into a modern day legend. A large part of her appeal is her willingness […]

Let Me Introduce You To My Ugly

Today started out as a normal day. I got a really good run in. The weather was cool, with a nice breeze. I went to the gym afterwards to change for work. That’s when it all made an abrupt turn. I started talking to one of the regulars at the gym and he mentioned the […]

One Republic Says Oh My My

One Republic has been talking about their upcoming album, Oh My My, for quite some time.  They have already given fans a sample of the new album with “Wherever I Go” and “Kids”. The group just released “A.I.”, featuring Peter Gabriel this weekend. One Republic was barely able to get Peter Gabriel on the record. One […]

The Full Service Life

Earlier this week, I met a lady who recently relocated to Dallas from Oregon. She proceeded to tell me how Dallas was so much larger than the close quarters upbringing she experienced. Her hometown has a population of 800 and the streets are often blocked with cattle. I wasn’t able to relate to her life. […]

The Gingerbread Revelry

Texas has finally cooled down over the last couple of days. Some of you may remember me posting a picture of my new Imbue Tea portable brewer on Instagram. I purchased it through Kickstarter and I’ve been using it heavily since then. Bagged tea can be really good, but loose leaf tea tastes the best. […]

En Vogue: Reunited, Divided & Conquered

Cindy. Terry. Maxine. Dawn. The ladies of En Vogue made their immensely successful debut into the music industry in 1990. Before there was SWV, Destiny’s Child, Xscape or Fifth Harmony, there were the funky divas. The group was effortlessly sexy and are arguably the best sounding female group in the last 30 years – case […]

Skylar Grey: Greatness of Natural Causes

Some people still may not know who Skylar Grey is, despite the fact that she just released her third studio album. However, Natural Causes is only her second release under this stage name. Holly Brook was her former name, used during her debut album. She has been recording since 2006. She really hit big in […]
